A quiet room in London.
Why we exist
Specialty coffee and craft cocktails both built beautiful worlds — and then put a wall of vocabulary around them. Washed, anaerobic, fino, koji. If you already speak the language, the wall is invisible. If you don’t, it keeps you outside.
N25 was started to take the wall down without dumbing anything down. We roast single lots, ferment, clarify and bottle with as much obsession as anyone. Then we describe the result in flavours you already know, and place it as one dot on a simple grid.
Complexity stays in the craft; not in the experience.
The name
Two meanings, one mark.
01 — Negative 25
In The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, the search for the missing “negative 25” is really a search for a forgotten purpose. N25 is built to be that kind of place — somewhere to pause, slow down, and remember why you started.
02 — 25°N
25 degrees north runs through Yunnan, where some of China’s finest coffee grows — and where our first roastery was built. The name is a coordinate: the point on the map where our journey began.
Where we come from
N25 began in Shanghai in 2020, with our own processing facilities in Yunnan and Panama and origin partnerships across Kenya, Ethiopia, Panama and Yunnan — from green bean to finished cup, every stage stays in our hands.
The tea runs deeper still: since 2010 we have grown tea in Hangzhou’s West Lake Longjing hills and in Yunnan, working with the same farming families season after season.
London is the next chapter — bringing an East Asian reading of coffee, tea and cocktails to a city that takes all three seriously.
How it looks, and why
01
East Asian stillness
Tea culture taught us that restraint is a form of respect — for the ingredient and for the person drinking. Warm wood, ceramics, unhurried service.
02
Japanese reduction
Our white boxes carry an embossed mark and almost nothing else. If a line doesn't help you choose or enjoy, it doesn't get printed.
03
Nordic function
The quadrant is pure function: a tool that turns expertise into a picture. Beautiful because it works, not the other way round.
